Just look how damn good this looks.. This is 1/4 scale footage off of a DSLR.. What the hell? That is full sweetness right there.. The only thing I can hope for beyond this on the final production model is a 24p mode and shutter speed control. If they added those I think I’d collapse from pure giddiness. Shweeet!
Check it out on Vincent Laforet’s blog, he produced this independently from Canon on his own dime.. Although I think he will somehow make much more back

So, this is the camera I’ve been waiting on to upgrade my aging Canon 10D. I love the Canon 5D but I was holding out for its replacement. I heard the announcement was coming up soon so I was literally checking out Keith Coopers’ website 5 times a day for new information. His website is loaded with good information and reviews BTW, I recommend visiting. So when I finally read the specs and unveiling.. well, hot diggedy damn!
The big surprise for me was the fact that the new 5D MK II is able to handle 1080P movies at 30fps. Being able to do this all the while utilizing all of my lenses, and the camera’s low light capabilities the quality could possibly rival professional HD cameras.. It is amazing. If the movie quality does hold up, what a pretty big achievement for a DSLR! Imagine how this could change how people shoot? Photojournalists, wedding photographers, sports, indie film makers and more. The ability to capture good quality video while maintaining amazing still image quality whenever needed all in one body simply seems to good to be true, yet here we are with the 5D MK II.
I’ve been following Vincent Laforet’s blog about him getting his hands on the pre-production 5D Mark II model for 72 hours and shooting a short film with it. He’s absolutely raving about it and his excitement is infectious. For those who don’t know who Vincent is, he’s an amazing photographer who shoots regularly for the New York Times, and who’s work has been published in “Vanity Fair, The New York Times Magazine, National Geographic, Sports Illustrated, Time, Newsweek, and Life Magazine”. He’s a very interesting person judging from his work and reading his blog. Read more about Vincent here.
You can read about the 5D Mark II and all of the amazing specs over at dpreview.com’s hands on preview of the new 5D Mark II. There are some stills and some video footage there. Grab a handkerchief, you’ll need it to wipe the drool from your chin.
I have my 5D Mark II on pre-order, they should be shipping in November… I can’t wait!

Yay! This show was not easy, it was anything but easy. But it’s looking great and I think it’s going to do very well. Yesterday we had a production party to celebrate; we have only 36 shots left to go! I took some photo’s, and here they are.
What better way to introduce the album than to show one of our two fearless leaders in Magenta, his most sensitive colour. Click on the image to see the album.

So long Coppermine, Hello Flickr!
After years of using Coppermine Photo Gallery to share my photo’s on my site, I’ve decided it was time to move to something easier to share and maintain. I’ve decided to go with Flickr to share my work. What is Flickr? Here’s an excerpt from Wikipedia.
Flickr is a photo sharing website and web services suite, and an online community platform, which is generally considered an early example of a Web 2.0 application.
In addition to being a popular Web site for users to share personal photographs, the service is widely used by bloggers as a photo repository. Its popularity has been fueled by its innovative online community tools that allow photos to be tagged and browsed by folksonomic means.
The Coppermine gallery that I have will still be around on the site, I just won’t be updating it anymore. One of the great things about Flickr is that its’ community is massive, there are so many great photographers on there it’s mind boggling. (Yes I said mind boggling.. So what?
) As a source of creative inspiration, and a way to have your work shared and commented on, there is no better site at the moment that I’ve found.
Flickr isn’t perfect, but it’s the best choice for me at this moment. Another Flickr-esque site I considered and recommend (I also have an account on) is Zooomr. It may potentially surpass Flickr at some point, but overall it isn’t quite there yet.
You can find my new gallery here, or click on the flickr link on the sidebar. The new slideshow presentation is great, so please check it out. If you are a flickr user already you’ll be able to comment on my photo’s, if not you can sign up, it’s free.
Below are 5 of the lastest albums I’ve uploaded. Check them out!

| At 10:24am PST on 03/03/06 at St. Johns hospital in Santa Monica, Claudette Rahhali gave birth to our second daughter! She came into the world at a whopping 9 lbs 12 ounces! That’s 4 ounces away from 10 lbs! Our first daughter weighed in just over 6 lbs… That’s over 60% heavier than Yasmina! We knew this baby felt bigger, but no one expected just how much! Claudette is recovering and doing well, and we’re both thankful for a healthy, plump, and gorgeous baby! I’m ecstatic and I must find more ways to punctuate my sentences with exclamation points! Please join us in a big booyakasha celebration! Click here for some pictures of our big day. |
